La familia de Keith Richards vivía en Dartford, Inglaterra, y era muy musical. Su madre, Doris, siempre tenía la radio puesta; su abuela tocaba el piano; su tía Joanna y él cantaban a dúo canciones de los Everly Brothers; su abuelo, Theodore Augustus Dupree (Gus), tocaba el violín, el saxo y la guitarra. Keith se crio durante los últimos años de la guerra mundial y la posguerra, cuando no era fácil hallar el lado alegre de Londres. Pero aquel niño y su abuelo pasearon por todos los rincones de la ciudad. Durante esas caminatas visitaban talleres donde se reparaban instrumentos rotos. Un día, Gus le mostró a Keith varios acordes de guitarra y le enseñó a tocar Malagueña. Ésa fue la introducción de Keith a la música y el origen de este conmovedor relato ilustrado por Theodora Richards, hija del autor.
