El presente volumen reúne tres de sus comedias más afortunadas y con mayor repercusión en épocas posteriores. En ?Los gemelos? se desarrollan magistralmente los enredos y confusiones a que da lugar el tema de la identidad de dos personajes. ?El soldado fanfarrón? (Miles Gloriosus) destaca por el insuperable tratamiento teatral del protagonista, el engreído soldado Pirgopolinices. ?Pséudolo? o ?El trápala?, posiblemente la mejor obra del autor, trata el tema de la separación y reencuentro de dos enamorados gracias a la intervención de un astuto esclavo, verdadero héroe de la obra.
