La caricatura política és un document que reflecteix l'opinió dels editors i lectors d'un periòdic. Per tant, el seu interès històric és evident. Després de l'atac terrorista a la redacció de Charlie Hebdo a París, no hi ha dubte de l'impacte i del risc de l'acudit gràfic. Des de final del segle XIX, la caricatura política ha tingut a Catalunya dibuixants i humoristes excel·lents, incisius i valents. El quinquenni republicà, pel parèntesi de llibertat d'expressió que comportà, es pot considerar una edat d'or de la caricatura política catalana, com demostra aquest llibre, en què cada ninot va acompanyat d'una explicació que el contextualitza, de manera que el relat històric es pot seguir com una seqüència il·lustrada pels dibuixos satírics.
