Un día Lars, el osito polar, oye un leve gemido. Se acerca al ruido y descubre un conejito dentro de un hoyo en la nieve. Le ayuda a salir y los dos se divierten y juegan juntos. El osito polar se da cuenta de que Hugo es en realidad un conejito miedoso y esto le hace sentirse aún más valiente: se atreve a llegar hasta la estación polar y se encuentra en una situación peligrosa por culpa de su atrevimiento. Pero entonces queda demostrado que Hugo también puede ser valiente.
