Nuestra " Historia " llega hasta el 529 d.C. y prescinde de la literatura cristiana. La transmisión de los autores y sus obras, así como su influencia posterior en Roma y luego en las literaturas europeas, especialmente en las españolas, son puntos destacados de esta " Historia " . Ofrece también abundante información sobre fuentes de la literatura: ediciones, comentarios, escolios, léxicos y concordancias, estudios, traducciones a lenguas modernas e información sobre instrumentos y repertorios bibliográficos.
