El impresor Antón Brusi Mirabent (1775-1821) durante la Guerra de la Independencia se puso al servicio del mando español, lo cual le llevó a un heroico peregrinaje por todo el territorio catalán, con su prensa volante siguiendo las marchas y contramarchas del ejército. Instaurado luego el absolutismo, Brusi obtuvo el privilegio para editar el Diario de Barcelona, distinguiéndose también por ser el introductor del procedimiento litográfico en España. Tras una paciente investigación sobre las fuentes originales, Ignacio Canals (Barcelona, 1944), especializado en la historia catalana del siglo XIX, ha elaborado su biografía, así como un particular relato de los interesantísimos hechos vividos por Cataluña y por España en aquellos años tan decisivos.
