Hay muchas especulaciones sobre cómo ha podido suceder algo así, algunas más creíbles que otras. Pero el hecho indiscutible es que ha sucedido. Elvis y sus amigos deciden ayudarlos a salir de la miseria. O esa es la intención: cuando Elvis, por error, quema la mansión de Pinkerton por tercera vez, Lagunilla tiene razones para pensar el topicazo de que «con amigos como estos...».
