«Me dicen que escribes. Te creo capaz de cualquier cosa. Si un día me dijeran que has oficiado una misa, también me lo creería.» Con estas palabras se dirigió su madre a Picasso cuando conoció su faceta como escritor. Y es que la genialidad artística del pintor malagueño no encontraba límites. Sus poemas, poco conocidos hasta su aparición en Francia en 1989, son una buena prueba de ello.
Los poemas reunidos en este libro recuerdan mucho a sus cuadros: la sorprendente diversidad que caracteriza a su obra plástica también está presente en sus textos, que se nos ofrecen al más puro estilo del collage picassiano, y que adquieren una brillante y poética dimensión visual.
