Huck, educado en la moral de su época, sabe que debería denunciar a Jim, el esclavo negro que, ante la amenaza de ser vendido, se dispone a huir. Y sabe que ayudando a escapar a un negro está «pecando», y que por ese camino «se condena». Pero Huck entiende las «razones del corazón» e ignora la supuesta «moral» en favor de la amistad y del buen sentido. Afortunadamente, la Historia ha dado la razón a Huckleberry Finn.
