Félix Grande nació en Mérida en 1937. Desde los dos hasta los veinte años vivió en Tomelloso. Hoy reside en Madrid. Ha publicado libros de relatos y libros de investigación sobre temas flamencos y sobre temas literarios. Su autobiografía La balada del abuelo Palancas obtuvo el Premio Extremadura a la Creación (2005) y la Medalla de oro de Castilla-La Mancha (2005). Sus anteriores libros de poesía están reunidos en el volumen Biografía. Ha recibido, entre otros, los premios Adonais (1963), Casa de las Américas (1967), Nacional de Poesía (1978) y Nacional de Flamencología (1979). En 2004 obtuvo el Premio Nacional de las Letras Españolas.
