La primera novel·la que escriu un autor de vegades és un miracle. Tal va ser el cas de "Plora, pàtria estimada", publicada el 1948, traduïda arreu del món i constantment reeditada d?aleshores ençà. En català, feia mig segle que havia desaparegut del món dels llibres vius: avui hi torna, trasbalsadora, en la magnífica traducció de Ramon Planes.
