Ampliando la concepción de la libertad de Fichte, desde un irreligioso kantismo de izquierdas, y preocupado por el destino del hombre, busca superar la escisión entre el yo teórico y el yo práctico en una unidad que escape a su vez al abismo espinosista. Su nueva concepción de un hombre no escindido sólo será pensable desde una dimensión estética.
