El dietari de l?hisendat Joaquim Fina i Moner, de Palafrugell (Baix Empordà), escrit entre 1842 i 1878, és una mostra d?aquesta tipologia memorialística tan conreada en època moderna i contemporània a la Catalunya vella. L?autor hi consignava sistemàticament observacions meteorològiques i fets quotidians d?una joventut abocada a dues grans passions, la caça i la pesca, i una maduresa centrada en la responsabilitat dels seus càrrecs municipals. Damunt de tot sobresurt, però, un estil vivaç i un registre lingüístic que transparenta un cabal lèxic de gran interès dialectal.
