El franquismo convirtió a la mujer en un ser inferior moral, intelectual y físicamente al varón, a la que este debía tutelar, vigilar y proteger. El nacional-catolicismo promovía la reclusión de la mujer en el hogar con el objetivo de ?consolidar? la unidad familiar, pero detrás de esta doctrina, que alababa el ideal femenino de virtud y pureza para justificar lo que en realidad no era sino obediencia impuesta y obligada sumisión, se buscaba solventar la maltrecha situación de la España de posguerra. Impidiendo el acceso de las mujeres al mundo laboral, y encomendándoles la ?loable? tarea de encargarse de la economía doméstica, el sistema se garantizaba un mejor aprovechamiento de los escasísimos recursos existentes.
