Hace tiempo que las peleas son frecuentes en su relación con el joven diseñador gráfico Kalus Voormann y no parece que la pareja vaya a durar mucho. Una noche, tras una riña, Klaus se marcha del piso y sale a caminar solo por la ciudad.
De madrugada aparece otra vez en la puerta de Astrid para contarle emocionado lo que acaba de descubrir en el barrio rojo de Sankt Pauli: cinco chicos ingleses que se hacen llamar The Beatles y tocan rock and roll en un antro de Grosse Freiheit...
