Un capvespre, llegint Lord Byron, veu com s'acosten al cementiri tres joves forsaters, dues noies i un noi vestits de negre amb una flor violeta a la solapa i la cara pintada de blanc.L'amenacen i l'inetenten fer fora, en Cristian, sense saber massa per què, s'hi enfronta. Els tres joves formen part d'una ordre especial, "l'ordre pàl·lida" i es dediquen a passejar-se pels cementiris intentant agermanar-se i comunicar-se amb els difunts més cèlebres de l'indret. En Cristian atret per aquesta ordre se sotmetrà a les proves d'iniciació. Però una de les joves mor assassinada... www.retrum.cat
