Daniel Samoilovich nació en Buenos Aires en 1949. Ha publicado diez libros de poemas; entre ellos Superficies iluminadas, Hiperión, Madrid, 1997, Las Encantadas, Tusquets, Barcelona, 2003 y El despertar de Samoilo, Adriana Hidalgo, Buenos Aires, 2005.
En 2001, editorial Phi, de Luxemburgo, y Des Forges, de Québec, coeditaron una selección de sus poemas traducidos al francés (La nuit avant de monter a bord). En 2007 se publicó en la editorial Shoestring de Londres Driven by the Wind, una antología de sus poemas traducidos al inglés.
Es, por otra parte, traductor de latín, francés e inglés. Entre otros, ha traducido al castellano al poeta latino Horacio (XX Odas del Libro III, Hiperión, Madrid, 1998) y a Shakespeare (Henry IV, Norma, Bogotá, 2003).
Desde 1986 dirige el periódico trimestral Diario de Poesía.
