Tras muchos años de investigaciones, los filósofos han concluido que el lenguaje es lo que nos distingue como criaturas racionales y lógicas. Hacerlo explícito es una investigación sobre la naturaleza del lenguaje desde un enfoque centrado en ela inferencia y ciertos juicios implícitos que se convierten explícitos en el lenguaje. Esta obra constituye el primer intento de elaborar una teoría que explique cómo puede atribuirse un contenido semántico a expresiones y actitudes cuando éstas se captan de manera adecuada en las prácticas sociales.
