També ha escrit teatre -La vida perdurable (1992), L'hora dels adéus (1994) i El dia dels morts (1997)- i prosa, com ara Girona, matèria i memòria (1989), Fórmules magistrals (1997), Sense escut (1998) o Forma i prejudici (2006). De la seva dedicació a la traducció, destava la dels Cants de Giacomo Leopardi (2004). Escriu setmanalment al Quadern del diari El País des de fa anys i ha publicat, en aquesta mateixa col·lecció, L'ànima dels poetes (2002) i Camins d'Itàlia (2005), que recullen alguns dels textos d'aquesta col·laboració.
