Estos poemas constituyen la más breve y mejor colección de la poesía española surgida entre 1939 y 1996. Se pone en el ambiente cultural y académico una selección de poemas que no es una más entre las ya existentes, sino que se beneficia del juicio crítico y de la experiencia de un número considerable y representativo (más de cien) de entendidos en poesía, a los que se pidió seleccionar los diez mejores poemas de poetas españoles de este período.
