Lo desconhort i el Cant de Ramon són segurament les més importants -si no les més belles- de les obres rimades de Ramon Llull. Els dos poemes, estilitzadament autobiogràfics, expressen la profunda crisi que Llull, l'irreductible somniador, patí al llindar de la vellesa. El poeta, clos en el seu jo aïrat ja que se sent un fracassat, entra en el desconhort perquè veu com el desamor l'ha convertit en pecador, car "fa gran pecat qui en son cor reté ira ne desconhort".
Aquesta edició ofereix, en grafia actualitzada, un text revisat de la millor edició moderna, la d'Amadeu Pagès. L'estudi introductori posa de relleu la importància teològica i filosòfica dels dos poemes de Llull.
