Vida de la Duse y D?Annunzio narra el idilio que surgió entre la actriz y el poeta, dramaturgo y controvertido aventurero político Gabriele d?Annunzio (1863-1938), un idilio que repercutió en las obras de un período de transformación del teatro. Para la actriz, D?Annunzio compuso La ciudad muerta, El sueño de una mañana de primavera y Francesca da Rimini, personaje que ha pasado a la historia del teatro por la sentida interpretación de la Duse. El texto de Bertita Harding cuenta en esta ocasión con un valor añadido: la magnífica traducción del poeta, narrador y dramaturgo cubano Virgilio Piñera (1912-1979).
