En Justin Time acaba de tornar al segle XXIV d'un viatge en el temps, però no ho fa sol: l'acompanya la Fanny, una òrfena londinenca del segle XIX que l'ajudarà en la seva missió: buscar els pares d'en Justin, desapareguts en la primera prova experimental dels salts temporals. Junts, investigaran els inicis del projecte AION de viatges en el temps. Les pistes els duran a viatjar al segle XX, a Montauk, on els militars nord-americans hi tenen una base secreta. Però la recerca d'en Justin continua amenaçada pel sabotatge i el perill perquè es troben enmig d'un camp de batalla pel control del temps.
