El cop li fa perdre el coneixement durant una estona, però quan es recupera s'adona que alguna cosa ha canviat...Ostres! Es troba en plena Edat de Pedra! Aviat coneix a una nena que el porta fins l'assentament de la seva tribu i allà aprendrà la seva manera de viure; veurà com fabriquen les eines i armes, com es confeccionen la roba; participarà en les seves celebracions, àpats, caceres i fins i tot, pintarà a les parets d'una caverna.
