En l'«Atles del comtat d'Urgel (v88-933)», Jordi Bolòs i Víctor Hurtado estudien el territori d'aquest comtat durant els segles VIII-X. Aquest comtat s'estenia per Andorra i les actuals comarques de l'Alt Urgell, del Solsonès, del Pallars Jussà i de la Noguera. Mitjançant la realització de diversos mapes, els autors ens permeten de conèixer el poblament, l'economia i les possessions dels principals senyors laics i eclesiàstics en època carolíngia. Diversos mapes molt detallats, dedicats a situar tots els noms de lloc que trobem abans de l'any 1000 i a cartografiar tots els dominis senyorials, s'acompanyen d'altres mapes que ens permeten de descobrir, per exemple, els precedents de l'época carolíngia, l'estructura del poder a les valls, els dominis monàstics o bé l'evolució de la frontera.
