Iván Tubau nació en Barcelona en 1937. Se educó cerca de Toulouse cuando era niño y en Madrid cuando era joven. Estudió arte dramático, periodismo y filología francesa. Sus libros de poesía publicados son Domicilios transitorios (Laertes, 1984, primera edición), Les ostres i el vi blanc (Edicions 62, 1987), Vendrán meses con erre (Hiperión, 1991), La quijada de Orce (Lumen, 1997) y Semen (Bromera, 2004). Ha obtenido premios de Poesía en catalán/valenciano (Enric Ferran, 1991; Jocs Florals de Barcelona, 2001; Ausiàs March de Gandia, 2003) y en 1998 se editó una antología de sus poemas en español realizada por Ana María Moix (Plaza & Janés).
